It is at the banks utmost priority to ensure Internet banking is at its scrutinized security atmosphere for their customers - which is not a bad news for you and me to know our online activities are secured and protected.
Most banks in Malaysia - be it local or foreign have executed second authentication requirements at various stages while customers are transacting online. For instance, randomized security questions during sign on, special code request (to be sent to your registered mobile no.) during funds transfer and so forth. However, some banks failed to recognize the basic and fundamental principles on why customers chose to bank online.
Here's why: Imagine one fine day you log on to your Internet banking website wishing to conduct a do-it-now-or-you'll-be-penalized transaction, but only to realize you are suppose to be-there-over-the-bank-counter-physically to collect some security device or dot-com card in order to continue to bank online, and to make it worst - only the next day as your bank need some time for activation!
The fact is that the same enhanced security protection can be obtained from some other Internet banking sites entirely online, and activated instantaneously. So why the fuss in asking your ONLINE customers to show up at your OFFLINE bank counters?
You and me know very well the banks wish we could do our online banking anywhere, anytime - but hey... if you happened to be the customers-who-require-add-ons group, please remember to bring your device or dot-com card along (provided you have not lost it by now).
As far as online banking customers' utmost concerns? It spells C-O-N-V-E-N-I-E-N-C-E and flexibility.
